Below is an arbitrary list of events of potential interest to SwimRI and other members of the Rhode Island Masters Swimming community. It is not intended to be all-inclusive. Sunday, September 17:

Boston Sharkfest, Boston, Mass. 1500-meter competitive open water swim across Boston Harbor from Piers Park Sailing Center in East Boston to the Moakley Federal Courthouse at Fan Pier on South Boston.

Saturday, September 30:

USMS Stroke Development Clinic with USMS COO & Education Director Bill Brenner, Community College of Rhode Island (CCRI) Flanagan Campus, Lincoln, R.I. This free (no cost) stroke clinic covers all four competitive swim strokes and will benefit swimmers of all levels. You are NOT required to swim all strokes and may work on only those strokes you choose. Bring goggles, fins, paddles and a towel -- fins are necessary to facilitate drills.

All swimmers oveer age 18 are welcome. Non-USMS members will receive a one-time, free 30-day USMS membership.*

Registration is limited to 36 swimmers in the water and 6 coaches who will gain practical experience coaching on-deck with veteran stroke technician and Level 4 Coach Bill Brenner.

Check-in is from 8:30-9:00 AM and the clinic runs from 9:00 AM to noon. All participants are invited to mingle during lunch afterwards at a nearby restaurant.

*For insurance purposes, former USMS members whose memberships have lapsed must renew at www.usms.org/reg to participate in this clinic.

Saturday, October 14:

October Swim Fest, William J. Holmes Sports Center Pool, Simmons College, Boston, Mass. USMS-sanctioned, annual short-course meters mini meet.

Sunday, October 22:

HAWKtoberfest Alumni/Masters Meet, Roger Williams University, Bristol. R.I. USMS-recognized, annual mini meet. Onsite swimmer registration will be available. Other details forthcoming. Post-meet lunch at nearby Aidan's Pub.

Propulsive Freestyle Clinic with NEM Coach Bill Paine, Zesiger Aquatic Center, Cambridge, Mass. To register, email  your request to Bill Paine at bpaine@mit.edu.

Saturday, November 18:

SwimRI Stuffies vs. Steamers Dual Meet, Providence College, Providence, R.I. Limited to 40 invited swimmers. High school order of events + extra relay events. Coed, with the exception of one designated event. Post-meet dinner/party at Ladder 133 Bar & Grill.

Friday-Sunday, December 8-10:

New England LMSC Short Course Meters Championship, Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Worcester, Mass.
